An important part of the mission of the AI&G is the opportunities given to emerging and seasoned artists to exhibit and sell their art works. Each year 10-12 art exhibitions are designed to showcase art works in a wide range of genre’s, mediums and themes. In addition, special art exhibits and events are presented throughout the year.
Some exhibitions feature specific genre’s, such as abstract, photography and pottery. Other exhibitions feature open mediums and open themes such as the Spring and Fall Members Show and the Delmarva Regional.
We are living in challenging economic times. Artists need to sell art! The AI&G offers a venue for artists to display and sell their artwork. At all exhibitions, artwork is available for sale. Any artwork over $200 can be placed on a ninety (90) day payment plan. Exhibitions such as the Holiday Artist Show held during the Christmas holiday season give the community an opportunity to view and purchase some of the best art works found on Delmarva at affordable prices.
Child artists today are our daVinci’s, Monet’s, Wyeth’s, Pollack’s and Michelangelo’s of the future. The AI&G is extremely proud of the Blooming Artist Youth Show held each February. Through this exhibition, children from 4-18 have an opportunity to have their artwork featured in a gallery exhibition. Children from preschool to 12th grade in a home, public school, private school or home schooled environment may submit up to 1 artwork for Preschool-K, Elementary and Middle School age and 2 artworks for the high school level. Open to children in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, this judged event grants prizes to the winners, with full proceeds of any sold artwork going to the youth artist. Each year the AI&G receives over 350 artworks from children and teachers on behalf of their students.
The most prestigious of all exhibitions each year is the Annual National Juried Exhibition. Celebrating its 21st Anniversary in 2012, the upcoming exhibit will be larger on all scales from the jurist to the prizes. This event also offers unique sponsorship opportunities for local, regional and national businesses.
Artist Calls for Entry are published on this site, available at the AI&G and community businesses or may be emailed. Artist CFE’s are available within 60 days of the event. A full prospectus for the 21st National Exhibition will be posted by January 15, 2012.
